Summary
You’ve tried to modify the environment and curriculum to support that one child. You’ve tried to embed specific learning opportunities for that one child. And yet, this child still struggles to learn the skills that are necessary to maintain and be included in the classroom in a meaningful way. Some children may need more opportunities every day to practice a new skill, more assistance from their teachers, instruction in a setting with fewer distractions, positive reinforcement in a consistent manner, and consistent guidance when they make errors. Some children require more systematic, more frequent, and more carefully planned instruction to succeed. This training explores child focused instructional strategies (CFIS) within the Building Blocks Framework as strategies to support children that need more intentional and intense teaching practices to allow for improved outcomes in the classroom setting.
