**IN PERSON TRAINING** With more and more children diagnosed with autism, it is important to know strategies to support these children. This session will identify key challenges that children face with autism while providing teaching strategies to promote social engagement, communication development, and relationships.

Objectives:
At the end of the professional development event, participants will be able to: o Understand how the physical environment impacts individuals with autism. o Understand how schedules and routines can affect individuals with autism. o Learned strategies related to the schedule and routines to support individuals with autism. o Understand some of the key challenges for individuals with autism. o Learn strategies to support communication for children with autism. o Identify social skills and relationships characteristics common in children with autism. o Use strategies to support inclusive practices in child care and early learning programs. o Understand the characteristics of families who have children on the autism spectrum.
